What Exactly Is A Reproduction?
We commission talented artists to hand-paint accurate copies of original works of art.
These are NOT photographic transfers on to canvas; every last brush-stroke, every bump and blob is the work of a human hand.
Once you have seen a work you like this, you will never want to accept a lifeless poster or print again. Genuine, hand-painted works take art in your home to a new level and the possibilities are endless; we can reproduce any copyright-free work of art you care to choose, in any size you choose, painted exactly according to your wishes.
Is This Legal?
Yes, this is 100% legal. We only reproduce works which are ‘out of copyright’ and in the public domain. The general rule for this is that the artist must have been dead for 70 years.
Are They ‘Museum Quality’?
We do not claim to supply ‘museum quality’ reproductions: a ‘museum-quality’ reproduction is painted by an artist approved by the relevant gallery or museum, sitting in front of the original work with the gallery’s permission, faithfully reproducing every last brushstroke.
If any individual or company offers to supply you a ‘museum quality’ reproduction, ask them to supply you with the name of the artist, a letter of approval from the gallery or museum concerned and a picture of the artist at work in front of the original painting!
Our artists work from carefully-selected, high-quality prints of the original work to reproduce as much detail as possible. Our preparations will include identifying areas or features that require special focus or attention to detail (such as variations in paint thickness on an early Monet), and ensuring that the artist is as fully supported as possible.
In addition to this, we try to add real value by visiting as many galleries as possible and "getting to know" paintings properly, so that we can pass on tips to artists. Where possible we also photograph the paintings in situ, so quite often we can show you how they were originally framed.
So How Close To The Original Are They?
Our clients comment, almost without exception, on the fantastic quality of the copies. See our 'Endorsements' page to read some of their responses over the years!
Are you going to make the neighbours envious? Of course you are. When visitors see one of these works in your house, they will stop in their tracks. Please read some of the comments on these lines in our ‘endorsements’ section!
Are you going to fool an art expert into believing you have an original? Of course not. Our goal is not to try and trick anyone into believing that these are originals - this is called fraud!
Our goal is to reproduce the essence of the original and to pass on the creative and artistic thrill... to create fascinating ‘conversation pieces’… and, of course, to bring objects of great beauty into all of our homes.
Why Choose Classic Reproductions?
Because we are knowledgeable, pay great attention to detail and believe in customer service.
We enjoy what we do and we take great pride in the pleasure we deliver to our customers.
We have been in business for ten years, a sure sign of quality and trustworthiness.
We talk to you. We take time to understand your preferences and expectations before we start work, and we listen to your comments throughout the process.
We keep you informed of progress all along the way, we let you monitor the painting through digital photographs and only ship the finished work and take final payment when you have approved the final-stage photos.
Can I Ask For A Painting That Is Not Shown On The Site?
Of course. So long as the painting is out of copyright, we can reproduce anything.
How Long Does It Take?
Lead times can vary depending on the complexity of the painting but, as a general rule, we can deliver most paintings within 6 to 8 weeks of commencing work.
How Do I Pay?
We accept payment by PayPal and credit card. We ask for 50% payment in order to start work, and the final 50% is payable as soon as you approve the final photographs of the painting and ask us to ship it to you.
What Is My Guarantee?
In most cases, we offer a simple 100% money-back guarantee. If you are unhappy with the painting when it is delivered, simply send it back to us and we will refund your payment in full.
The only variation to this practise is when the ordered painting is an ‘unusual’ order, for example of exceptionally large size and/or complexity. We treat all such orders on a case-by-case basis.
Are The Paintings Framed?
We do NOT frame paintings. On completion, we carefully roll up the canvas, place it into protective packaging and ship it to you. You then manage the framing process yourself. Time and experience has shown that this is by far the most cost-effective and practical way to go about things!
